Dance of the Birdmen
What you are looking at is a vintage foundry board that was used for casting very small metal parts. Some of the pieces look like bird heads, and I made a surreal connection to the Dancing Birdmen of Papantla (Mexico). They perform a 600-year-old ritual that dates back to the Mayans. Pretty sure I remember seeing a documentary about it a long time ago on National Geographic. Needless to say, when I look at this utilitarian foundry board I see the Dancing Birdmen, but you are more than welcome to envision your own interpretation. The wall sculpture is framed in rustic 100-year-old barn board and wired for hanging right out of the box.
Medium:
Wood, Aluminum, Brass
Dimensions:
14.75" tall x 20.75" wide x 3.5" deep
