Osborne Bulls
What originally started out as the logo for a Spanish liquor, the osborne bull has since become the national symbol of Spain. The company erected towering billboards of the arresting black silhouette up to 46 feet tall, dotted around the Spanish countryside and highways. I've witnessed them myself and they are a marvel. For this wall sculpture I tried my hand at "painting with wood". What looks like a simple idea took considerable time paying close attention to the wood grain, scanning the entire board for the perfect landscape. See how the sun rests between two clouds; the wood grain of the sky blends into the horizon; the slopes of the hills rise and fall...this panoramic sculpture would be a beautiful accent piece above a sofa or credenza.
