This fun project started with my purchase of a fantastic piece of driftwood, courtesy of my friend Reese from Outer Banks Driftwood in NC. After a series of ideas went nowhere, it became the focal point for a wall-mount shelf. Driftwood has the capacity for wild interpretation, however the huge wave this piece depicts is right there. I'm especially happy with the routed channel and how well the cherry shelf incorporates into the driftwood. Use the shelf to display plants, collectibles, or personal mementos. I half-jokingly added the surfer during photography, but I have to admit he really looks the part.
